UMGB releases — the discography

The discography

Latest releases.

UMGB releases in waves, not in dribbles. We do not flood the feed. The records below are the ones currently on the altar, in the order we would play them.

Maze Runner

by Maze Okafor

Five turns through a maze that keeps re-drawing itself. Maze Okafor brings Yoruba percussion to a Berlin club and lets the two argue it out. The argument is the song.

Single Ambient / Drone

Noor III

by Noor Amari

Two versions of the same tone, twenty minutes apart in temperament. The Single Edit breathes; the Drone Version holds. Together they make a sentence without a verb.

How we release

Patience, depth, very loud quiet.

We do not release singles for the sake of streaming metrics. Each record is announced with a date, supported with a tour, and then we let the listener catch up.

  1. 01

    Cast.

The artist finishes the record with the team in the room.

  2. 02

    Sequence.

We sequence the tracks together, listening on three different systems before locking the order.

  3. 03

    Release.

The record drops on a Friday. The tour is announced the same morning.

  4. 04

    Live.

The artist takes the record on the road. The first listen happens together.

  5. 05

    Resurface.

Six months later, we reissue — bonus tracks, a live tape, the B-sides that did not fit.
